Paignton Pier
Pier attractions have been big business for entertaining children and adults alike since the 1800s. With so many new theme parks opening up and cinemas releasing the latest films, it’s easy to forget the old-fashioned delights of a pier.
Paignton Pier, which first opened to the public in 1879, is one of the most extensive piers in the country and has seen many changes over the years. Set at the centre of one of Torbay's best beaches, within an easy level walk to the town centre, station and buses, the Pier has plenty of parking nearby, many attractions on the open deck and inside, plus magnificent views of Torbay.
Today it has over twenty different entertainment options – meaning that you and the family will find something to suit everyone during your visit. For the smaller ones in your party there are trampolines, a bouncy castle, face-painting and a rock and sweet shop. For the older children you will find the Mega Slide, Crazy golf, ten pin bowling, the Orbiter dodgems, a shooting gallery and the chance to have a go at steering round a remote controlled car.
But what of the adults? For those patient accompanying adults you will find a variety of the latest machines to occupy you as the children play. And after that, it might be time to sort some food out – so you’ll be glad to hear that you have options ranging from a takeaway, to the ever-popular burger and chips, something from the Seafood Kiosk and then doughnuts or candy floss afterwards!
Open year round, but subject to weather conditions, Paignton Pier makes a great day out in wet or dry weather.
