The Sam Massey Quintet is a jazz/funk ensemble comprising some of the South West’s finest jazz musicians, combining an experienced, steaming rhythm section with an energetic, front line blend of trumpet and tenor sax. The band play a mixed programme of jazz standards, ballads and jazz-funk numbers, as well as original compositions by the band.
Bandleader Sam Massey is a fast-emerging talent on the South West jazz scene, studying with renowned British jazz trumpeter Nick Malcolm. He has performed and recorded with some top British jazz artists including Mike & Kate Westbrook, The Simmertones and has recently returned from a tour of Greece with funk/soul artists “Hannah Williams and the Affirmations”.

Chronograph Recording artists A/B trio brings together three of Alberta’s most in-demand performing and recording musicians – Thom Bennett (drums and cymbals), Dan Davis (saxophone), and Josh McHan (double bass). This group is inspired by the open-sounding, chordless groups of Sonny Rollins and Joshua Redman, as well as being informed by the work of Chris Potter and Ari Hoenig.
