Brixham Pirates Festival 2017
There will be LOTS of pirates, military and period re-enactors here with guns to make plenty of noise! We will make sure there is plenty of music too with shanties and pirate rock to keep ye hoppin’. Buskers, jugglers and other entertainers will perform around the streets and harbour of Brixham. There will be other shows, reenactments and events around the town through the weekend.
The festival takes place throughout the town with main stage right next to the Golden Hind boat in the inner harbour. The family stage will be in the Central Car park area by the bus stop.
We aim to make the festival suitable for everyone and all ages. There will be events for the kids to watch and take part in like shows and street acts. Historical reenactments and plays during the day. Fancy dress competition for young children. Music to suit all tastes and more music in the (pirate filled) pubs in the evening. There will be GUNS & MUSIC so it might be LOUD!
Please dress up if you can, whatever you can manage will be fine even if it is just an eye-patch! There will be LOTS of pirates in costume right through the weekend so you will fit right in. We stay in costume in the evening too.
Dart Music Festival ~ Dartmouth
In 2017, May 12, 13, & 14 ~ We Celebrate 20 Years
The Dart Music Festival was started nearly 20 years ago by Rob and Di Lyon of Dartmouth (now Mayor of Dartmouth). It is an annual music event over three days, which was thought of initially to help improve the length of the tourist season for the small riverside town of Dartmouth and its tourism based businesses.
We have over 100 acts performing in over 20 closely sited town venues. These include churches, arts centre, restaurants and hotels. Our main area (centred around wonderful gardens and bandstand) is next to the river’s edge, surrounded with cafes and bars. There are many open air street-based performances making for a constant buzz of enjoyment over all three days. Many of the musicians, both amateur and professional, are from the West Country but we strive to be inclusive and attract national and international acts.
We are a not-for-profit organisation and have formed a ‘Dart Music Foundation’ whereby young hopefuls can apply for grants to help with music lessons, equipment and other associated costs relating to their musical progression.

The Party in the Park ~
The main Summer attraction in Cowtown is Brixham Hap’nin (Party in the Park). It takes place each year in July at St Mary’s Park, Brixham and is the perfect event for all ages.
In previous years the variety of music has ranged from local Primary school choirs to rock bands!
The main cornerstone of this unique culture is the warm and open welcome extended to all visitors who wish to join locals in their festival and celebrations.
Throughout the 2 day event you’ll get to see plenty of live entertainment from local bands, touring tribute bands, theatre acts, school performances, dance acts, amateur dramatics, food stalls, licensed bar, the list is too big!
Entry costs a small donation of £3 on the gate and every year profits are donated to local charities.
Paignton Festival is a very good event that takes places every year during the summer months of July and August. There is an amazing atmosphere and fun for all the family, from clowns to live music there is something for everyone and I am excited to be bringing this to you.
With the name of the event changing for the year of 2017 we hope to bring you a lot more fun and entertainment while keeping the same ethos we’ve had for over 100 years. Since the first event in 1909 we have been run by a small, dedicated team of volunteers and committee members and solely from donations from our main sponsors Anderton & Rowlands Fun Fair and Babbacombe Inn, also from local businesses and traders, as well as from members of the local public.
As the years go on, Paignton Festival is proud to be one of, if not the best events put on in the south west, and with no entry fee, we feel that we have the edge over some of our main competitors.
Despite the new name of Paignton Festival, Torbay Carnival is not gone for good, as the procession night will up keep that name.
The structure of the event will remain the same, with the party on the green taking place on the opening night, the procession taking place on the Wednesday and Dubs on the Beach taking place on the last Sunday.
